Outtrigger is developed by former in-house Sega developer AM2 - the company responsible for, among other titles, Shenmue, the Virtua Fighter series, and Ferarri 355 Challenge. AM2 is known to concoct some brilliant stuff, and people all over have been chiming in endlessly about the greatness of the arcade versions.

Outtrigger is a Quake style deathmatch shooter. you are thrown into arenas significantly tighter than those found in the traditional FPS, but armed with weapons that are just as perverse and outlandish as those found in other FPS titles. You have a liminted ammout of time to kill ennimies in the arena. when you kill an enemy, a time box apperars over him. when you pick the box up you get more time added to the clock.

The arcade control scheme consists of a joystick; buttons for jumping, shooting, and arsenal cycling; and a trackball for view controls. Reportedly, the trackball initially takes a bit of getting used to, but becomes quite effective in the hands of a proficient player. Though the game can be played in either a first- or third-person perspective, the control setup remains identical for each.
